Launch day has brought a new alliance: two independent arcade games, two very different battlefields and one shared Steam bundle.

The Omega Strain is now available together with Trema-Coding's The B.L.O.O.M Initiative, with a 15% bundle discount for players who want both games. The pairing makes more sense than it probably should. Both games put you behind the controls of a drone, both care deeply about immediate arcade action, and both were made well outside the usual machinery of mainstream game development.

The similarities end just before things become predictable. The Omega Strain sends you across eight low-poly worlds in a physics-based 3D arcade shooter powered by the custom RetroMesh engine. The B.L.O.O.M Initiative is a fast-paced 2D top-down shooter where you harvest alien resources, grow living weapons, build battlefield defences and fight alien birdmen and giant worms—alone or in split-screen co-op.

In other words: one game asks you to master gravity and save a collection of infected worlds. The other asks what might happen if botany received military funding.

The bundle is a small celebration of the things independent games are especially good at: strange ideas, personal technology, creative risks and developers helping each other reach a few more players. We are very happy to share a corner of Steam with Trema-Coding.
