One of the nicest things about making an indie game is occasionally meeting another developer who understands that visibility is a team sport.

Whale Development Studios has shared The Omega Strain with its audience on X and will include it in the studio's next Steam announcement on November 3. That deserves more than a thank-you email, so allow us to introduce Iron Curtain Call: World War III: Third Time's the Charm.

Iron Curtain Call is a fast, sarcastic cartoon-noir first-person shooter set in an absurd alternate 1965. The war is being fought by wind-up tin robots, the enemy is managed by a customer-service machine with political ambitions, and humanity's remaining answer is Corporal Punishment—a soldier delivered to the front like a parcel.

The action is built around constant movement: double jumps, air dashes, grappling, parrying and a collection of eleven weapons with names such as The Diplomat, The Typewriter and The Filibuster. Stunned robots can be punched for health, opened for ammunition or set on fire for armour. International relations have clearly had a difficult morning.

The free Steam demo is available now and contains the first mission, including a train with teeth and Major Disaster, a boss whose seventeen medals were all self-awarded. The complete twelve-chapter campaign launches March 11, 2027 for Windows and macOS.

Small studios cannot manufacture attention from thin air, but we can help good work reach the people who might love it. Whale Development Studios has done that for us during launch week. We are very happy to point our own little corner of the internet toward its war effort in return.

World War III now has a free trial. Play the demo, watch the trailer and wishlist Iron Curtain Call on Steam.

They sent The Omega Strain into the world too. See Whale Development Studios' launch-week post on X.
